IGNATIUS HOUSE RETREATS

All retreats at Ignatius House Retreat Center are based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. A compilation of meditations, prayers, and contemplative practices, these exercises are the foundation of Ignatian Spirituality. Developed by St. Ignatius of Loyola, they help people to consider creation, sin, repentance, and redemption while providing them with an opportunity for discernment and surrender to God’s great plan of salvation through Jesus Christ.

All Ignatius House retreats are silent, unless otherwise noted. They are directed by a certified spiritual director who provides a series of presentations designed to assist you with your meditation, reflection, and spiritual journey. The retreat offers opportunities for participation in liturgy, group prayer, and spiritual direction. Time in the schedule and physical settings of the retreat center offer one solitude, nature trails, reflection/prayer areas and numerous opportunities to be alone with yourself and God.

Is a Retreat Right for Me?

Whatever Your Reason for Attending a Retreat, Our Retreat Directors Will Tell You—“expect the unexpected!”
The reasons for going on retreat are numerous and highly personal. For many, a retreat provides the opportunity to examine the quality of their spiritual life and the direction of their spiritual journey. For some, a retreat provides an opportunity to examine and reflect on a serious challenge, decision, or commitment they maybe be facing. And, for others a retreat may be an opportunity for deeper conversion, purification, and growth in their own faith and personal relationship with God. No matter what your reason for attending a retreat, the resulting experience will be unique, personal, and often life changing.

Why Silence?

Silence is included to some degree in all of our offerings … from prayer and reflection in our Days of Reflections to extended silence and prayer commitments in our long term retreats with guidance and direction. Silence serves as a foundation for self-reflection and prayer and creates a nourishing atmosphere of relaxation. Within silence is an opportunity for deep and meaningful spiritual discovery. You begin to “actively” listen as your strip away the distractions of the outside world and connect with God in a way you often can’t in your daily life. Whether you have a specific problem to solve, a critical decision to make, are seeking solitude or simply are in need of a more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ, in silence, answers come easier to the surface and God’s voice becomes loud and clear.

“Silence has the capacity to open a space in our inner being, a space in which God can dwell.” – Pope Benedict XVI
