Providing Spiritual Direction is an Integral Part of Our Mission

Spiritual Direction is a process to help you become increasingly aware of the workings of the Holy Spirit in your life. It is about growing in the understanding of your relationship with God so that you can continue to deepen it as you continue your spiritual journey. Ignatius of Loyola understood the integral role of a spiritual director to enable every person to more profitably experience an Encounter with God. Ignatius House honors this commitment. There are many spiritual directors affiliated with Ignatius House who are extremely competent and recognized nationally and globally for guiding others spiritually. All spiritual directors are trained in Ignatian Spirituality and most have completed the 19th annotation. A Spiritual Director is a companion who walks alongside you on your spiritual journey.  Your Spiritual Director is not a therapist, but a person who, with time and sharing, may be able to offer you holy ‘noticings’ and observations about your journey.  Together, you will uncover and discover divine movements in your life.

If you would like to begin spiritual direction, or are currently in spiritual direction but life’s changes prompt you to explore the possibility of a new spiritual director, we invite you to review the directory available to you here. You can contact a spiritual director to set up an appointment or talk on the phone, whatever works best for the two of you.  There is typically a cost to support the time of your spiritual director.  You can discuss this as well as meeting times and location with him or her in your first conversation. Many spiritual directors are experienced in offering service in multiple faiths and a wide spectrum of spirituality.  We pray that your search for truth, mystery, and divine encounter is fulfilled; and that the Holy Spirit guide you to the right spiritual director for you spiritual walk.

Meet Our Retreat Directors

Retreats at Ignatius House are led by experienced, well-trained spiritual directors in the Ignatian tradition.  In addition to the retreat directors introduced here, we are fortunate to welcome guest directors throughout the year as well.  Each director affiliated with Ignatius House will guide you through your retreat, offer you reflections for your prayer time, and lead you on the silent journey.  Many times, the retreat director will offer short periods of time for spiritual consultation during the weekend, and the retreat ends with Mass and a liturgical celebration.  People of all faiths are welcome to participate in the worship service, and divine seekers in all faiths will find hospitality, an environment and space that fosters sacred rest, and silence that offers the retreatant the encounter with our God. The Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola have guided us for hundreds of years and remain not only relevant today, but offer a sure path to entering the divine mystery.
