“When addiction enters a home, recovery is necessary for the entire family,” says author Jean Heaton. This retreat is designed to help anyone (family or friend) affected by the addictions of others to recover, too. Heaton draws from the 12-Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, Ignatian Spirituality, and her own lived experience to help inspire wellbeing.
This is a silent retreat. Guests are expected to maintain a sacred silence throughout the retreat, including at meals, unless otherwise noted.
The retreat will occur simultaneously with a 12-Step Recovery Retreat for those maintaining sobriety. Activities will be separate; meals will be shared.
Jean Heaton is the author of “Helping Families Recover from Addiction: Coping, Growing and Healing with 12-Step Practices and Ignatian Spirituality.” She is also a blogger, speaker, teacher, and a workshop and retreat leader Both her husband and son are in long-term recovery and she has worked her own Twelve Step program for those affected by the addictions of others. She shares her experience, strength, and hope with others at www.jeanheaton.com.
