NEW 2-Night Retreat: Dialogue Skills for Healing Divisions (Semi Silent)

March 11, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - March 13, 2022 @ 12:00 pm

$305

Directed by Brent Anderson, M.Div

Searching for the right words to keep a conversation on track? Whether with someone at the office, your spouse, teenager daughter, a neighbor across the hedge, or an elderly parent, learn grounded ways to power through difficult conversations at this retreat, “Healing Divisions: Ignatian Dialogue Skills for Polarized Times.” Your retreat director will introduce four, research-informed pillars of dialogue and share case studies that illustrate how those pillars can transform common conflict into deep connection. Techniques will draw from the fields of chaplaincy, spiritual direction, and Ignatian spirituality to help you recognize with reverence the wisdom of one other’s unique life experiences.

The retreat  will include periods of silence, connection, and humor with time for practical application and small group reflection that applies the dialogical techniques.

This is a semi-silent retreat.  Guests are expected to maintain a sacred silence throughout the retreat, including at meals, unless otherwise noted. There will be periods of discussion and dialogue as and when shared by the retreat director.

Brent Anderson, M.Div, has facilitated seminars on effective dialogue techniques, ethics, human trafficking response, the art of reflection, and leadership training for thousands of educators, physicians, nurses, and healthcare administrators. He has applied leading, resilience studies to create workshops  for  healthcare staff and contributed to the ongoing formation of chaplains and spiritual directors. Brent has studied multiple philosophies of dialogue, and as the chair of a hospital ethics committee, he honed the skills for dialoguing across polarities in highly charged situations. Hallmarks of his formation have included a 30-day Ignatian retreat, 5-month monastic formation, and numerous contemplative meditation retreats. He received his theology degree from the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley, and his spiritual direction training from the Mercy Center of Burlingame, Calif.
