Day of Reflection: For Those Affected by the Addictions of Others

July 27 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Directed Murphy Sullivan, MPA, CFRE

There is Hope: Finding Health and Wholeness One Day at a Time

Psalm 40:1-2 says, “I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.”

Many of us have been profoundly affected by the family diseases of alcoholism and addiction. Our self-esteem, our relationships, and our ability to enjoy life decline, and we suffer in the “mud and mire.” There is hope. We can move in a more positive, productive, and rewarding direction. We can move toward possibility.

This day is for those who are seeking the courage to change. It is a time to gather with the loved ones, friends, and family of people suffering from substance use disorders. We will primarily reflect on the hope offered through Step Two of the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. Together, it will be “a firm place to stand,” knowing we are not alone. We will find hope and wholeness.

To facilitate our day of reflection, resources, materials, and lunch will be provided. We encourage you to bring your journal, favorite writing pen, and any recovery literature or religious book to aid your introspection.

Murphy Sullivan, MPA, CFRE, journeys with those seeking recovery from the family diseases of alcoholism and addiction. She combines her 15 years of Twelve Step experience with 25 years of executive leadership in mental, physical, and spiritual health initiatives, offering a unique perspective.
