Two-Night Recovery Retreat: 12-Step Program

June 16, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - June 18, 2023 @ 12:00 pm

Directed by Brad Hamrlik

Come to this Recovery Retreat and encounter God. The natural setting of Ignatius House, located on 20 acres above the Chattahoochee River, will fill you with the peace and silence we need to replenish ourselves. Walk the nature trails alongside and above the river or simply sit in the presence of God’s creation. This is a silent and reflective retreat open to men and women of all faiths who are in a 12 Step Program.

Based on Ignatius of Loyola’s Spiritual Exercises, you will receive a series of presentations that can be used for reflection and prayer; the silence and beauty of your surroundings will help you slow down, listen, rest, and pray.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: This retreat is not suitable for anyone in acute withdrawal or initial stages of recovery. Please consult a behavioral health hospital. This retreat serves those seeking ongoing motivation for sobriety maintenance.

This is a silent retreat. Guests are expected to maintain a sacred silence throughout the retreat, including at meals, unless otherwise noted.
The retreat will occur simultaneously with a retreat for family and friends of those affected by addiction. Activities will be separate; meals will be shared. To invite family or friends to attend the other track, please go back to the calendar to “Recovery Retreat: For those affected by the addictions of others“.

Brad Hamrlik has served as a spiritual director since 2004 while earning his Certificate in Spiritual Direction at Loyola University in Chicago as a Jesuit in formation. He made the 30-day Silent Retreat form of the Spiritual Exercises and has led others through the 19th Annotation Retreat in Everyday Life form. Brad has served Ignatius House as a member of the Board of Directors. He also co-directed the Contemplative Leaders in Action program for young adults through Ignatius House.  As a young adult “seeker”, Brad experienced God in may ways; but only after beginning spiritual direction with Sr. Pat Thompson did he begin to communicate with God in a two-way dialogue. “In all my Catholic upbringing, I never learned how to develop an actual relationship with God—I learned that from Sr. Pat and all the wonderful Jesuits I have encountered, as well as from all the beautiful lay folks dedicated to this ministry.” Brad is open to working with anyone seeking a deeper relationship with God. He has particular experience working with young adults; former, prospective, and current religious; and those in recovery.Brad lives in Roswell with his wife, two children, and two dogs. He enjoys sailing and nature.
