Men’s Weekend Ignatian Retreat: Discernment of Spirits

June 21 @ 6:00 pm - June 23 @ 12:00 pm

Directed by Fr. Jim Fleming, SJ

Amidst the many responsibilities we juggle during the busy summer, it may seem counterintuitive to set aside a few days for silent prayer. However, silent retreats offer a unique opportunity to make our return to daily life more fruitful. Join us to discover what insights St. Ignatius of Loyola, a 16th-century soldier-turned-monk, might offer men in the 21st century.

During our weekend together, we will focus on the practice of “Discernment of Spirits.” This involves noticing the patterns of how God works in our lives and discerning the direction in which He invites us to move, thus gaining a deeper understanding of who we are in God’s dream for us. The retreat includes presentations by Fr. Fleming, guided prayer experiences, and time for one-on-one conversations with a spiritual director. Retreatants will explore various prayer methods such as The Examen, imaginative prayer using Biblical stories, and breathing meditation. Additionally, opportunities for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist will be available.

This is a silent retreat. Guests are expected to maintain a sacred silence throughout the retreat, including at meals, unless otherwise noted.
