Planning & Packing for Your Retreat

What to Pack

  • Casual attire is just fine at Ignatius House! This is a time for you to relax, unwind, and be comfortable. We encourage you to pack casual clothes, ath-leisure or athletic clothing.
  • Dress warm. Common areas, some rooms, and evenings can be cool. We recommend dressing in layers.
  • Bring hiking boots or outdoor footwear. Trails are rugged and often muddy.
  • Please pack all toiletries needed during your stay. We provide complimentary soap. Guest Services can assist should you forget an item.
  • A filtered water station is available for those who like to carry a refillable water bottle.
  • We are not a recreational resort, therefore swimming, wading or watersports at the river are not possible. Such items may be left at home.

What to Expect

Upon Arrival

  • Check-in at the main Retreat House building on your right as you enter from the parking lot.
  • If you have mobility issues, ask us for help carrying luggage to your room.
  • The property is gated. A gate code may be needed for late arrivals. Call 404.579.6166
  • You’ll receive an itinerary for your retreat upon check-in.

Accommodations

  • You’ll enjoy a private room and private bath. We provide towels, linens, pillows, and blankets. More can be requested from Guest Services during your stay.
  • We are a two-story retreat center without an elevator. A limited number of first-floor rooms and handicap-accessible rooms are available and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact us ASAP at guestservices@ignatiushouse.org to request special accommodations or call 404.255.0503.

Food & Beverage

  • Retreats begin with dinner on the first night and end with brunch on the final day.
  • Three wholesome meals are served daily in the Dining Room during fixed hours that will compliment the itinerary of your retreat. We recommend following this schedule as we may not be able to accommodate you if meals are missed.
  • Complimentary coffee, tea and water are available throughout the day. Additional beverage choices are available during meals.
  • Meals may be taken outside if you prefer.
  • If you have allergies or special dietary needs, contact us ASAP at guestservices@ignatiushouse.org or call 404.255.0503. We can support vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free or nut-free dietary needs. We appreciate notice at least 14 days prior to your retreat.
  • If you are on a restricted diet and require refrigeration for food or medication that you pack, a small community fridge is available. Contact us at guestservices@ignatiushouse.org or call 404.255.0503 to alert us to  your needs.

Silence

  • Guests enter into silence after orientation during the first “invitation to prayer” on retreat. We encourage you to unplug from phones and media throughout your stay, and discover what you can truly hear anew in the space that silence provides. Silence offers you and other guests plenty of opportunity for contemplation or meditation.
  • If and when you must speak with staff, please be mindful of others in silence.
  • If and when you must take a phone call, please do so in your car.

Emergencies

  • Those who need to reach you in an emergency may call 404.579.6166 at any hour to leave a message with Guest Services. A guest services representative will notify you immediately.
